Ribbon Dance The Ribbon Dance is probably the most representative Chinese folk dance seen around the world. The ribbons symbolize a cloud, which carry the gods and the goddesses in the sky. The patterns of the ribbon which dancers make are meant to encourage the gods to come down to earth to make the fields full and the harvest good. It was said that the ribbon dance originated in the Han dynasty over 2000 years ago.
